La Taqueria Express: Authentic Mexican Tacos and Burritos in North Charleston

Been coming here for many years whenever I'm in the mood for a good Mexican taco or burrito this is the place I go to good quality food great prices never had a complaint.

Food was delicious! Not the biggest portions but I was still satisfied after I ate my taco combination platter. Prices are reasonable and staff is very friendly.

Hands down the best taco place I’ve been in this state of sc. I’m from the ATL and nothing has compared to the tacos I’ve had from my home town but THESE? OMGGG. HIT! Great price and great flavor. They only accept cash!!

This was our annual visit to Erik’s place of awesome Mexican eats and it doesn’t disappoint. Full of flavour, moist and spicy. Great value, lots of choice and the most authentic tastes of Mexico. Served quickly and hot with smiles. Choose your style of taco/burrito etc and then your choice of meats: beef tongue & head meat are my favourite but there’s chicken, steak, pork and tripe, too. Don’t be put off by the somewhat edgy and busy roadside location. This place is busy for a reason and frequented by regular (many are Mexican) customers who know a good thing when they’re hungry. Better still, eat “outside” on the benches under the tarp and fraternise with the friendly locals about what they’ve chosen and why. Everyone is friendly and eating with smiles on their faces. $30 for two including a drink & tips and full to the rim. Seek it out and be rewarded. It’s worth it.

Was looking for something quick, so I stopped by La Taqueria Express on Ashley Phosphate (North Charleston) for three steak street tacos – what a flavor explosion! Honestly didn't expect just three tacos to be so incredibly delicious AND surprisingly filling. They were generously filled and perfect. Loved the simple touch of the sliced carrots and especially the house sauce: it had that perfect little spicy kick that was just right. The best part - the whole menu is super affordable – amazing value for such tasty food. Well worth the trip, and I'm definitely coming back soon! Update: I went back to La Taqueria Express on Ashley Phosphate Rd, and had the Taco Supremes— three Steak Asada Tacos for just $3 each, and they were absolutely worth it. The steak was juicy, flavorful, and grilled just right, with each taco packed full of fresh toppings. They were filling, satisfying, and had that authentic street taco taste I keep coming back for. Great portions, great price, and consistently delicious food. Still one of my favorite taco spots in town!

All I can say about Taqueria Express is WOW! So far I’ve had the Torta, Cuban Torta, barbacoa taco, beef tongue taco and tripe taco with their homemade salsa and everything has been insanely delicious. If you really want to treat yourself get the tripe tacos, they’re incredible.

Food is good and fresh tacos meat portions are very small. Prices are fine but 3 tacos could’ve been one taco at another truck. Probably wouldn’t stop again.
